David Randolph Williams, III was born in New Orleans, LA and educated in the Catholic school system in Baton Rouge.
He earned a B.A. degree in English from Louisiana State University, using it to work as a journalist for some five years,
whetting his appetite for history. He received his M.A. in history from the University of Louisiana—Lafayette. He studied
history at the doctoral level at Mississippi State University, and later worked at Tulane University for four years before
accepting an academic posting abroad. He taught history at Lousiana--Lafayette, Mississippi State University, and Tulane.
He spent nine years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a department head at Perdana College, where he developed academic programs
in Languages, Business and Information Technology, while overseeing a faculty of 20. While abroad he also wrote travel articles,
touring and working personal projects in China, Australia, Indonesia, South Africa, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, and Singapore.
He recently repatriated to the United States and, in addition to pursuing personal academic objectives,writes historical
book reviews for the Magazine section of The Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge. Williams is also an ardent Jazz enthusiast;
he played trombone in symphonic, jazz and Tiger Band at LSU.
